Serco is seeking an experienced and results-driven Capture Lead to drive growth in the Defence sector in Italy. This critical role involves delivering on growth targets and developing the market by identifying new opportunities that align with the business unit’s vision, goals, and strategies.
The role reports directly to the Head of Defence Italy.

Main Responsibilities
- Deliver the growth targets in Defence in Italy
- Develop the market and identify new opportunities for growth in line with the business unit’s vision, goals and strategies
- Create and implement in Italy a BD Defence strategy in line with Europe and Group strategy for high growth and margin improvement.
- Own the delivery of the Italian defence market sales targets to ensure successful implementation of the business plan, secure contract wins and revenue growth.
- Deliver on our commitments to provide high quality services that create sustainable value for our customers, employees and shareholders.
- Ensure that all business opportunities are properly qualified and reviewed in order to maximise opportunity, profitability and manage/control business and financial risk.
- The role is responsible for the delivery of the defence market’s sales targets and successful management of defence bid opportunities in Italy.To lead the delivery of Serco's growth strategy in this market.
The role reports directly to the Head of Defence Italy.
Successful Candidate
The minimum requirements for the role are:
- Italian mother tongue
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Knowledge of MS office instruments, including planning tools
- Secondary School or (preferable) University Degree
- Excellent knowledge of Italian government procurement processes
- Deep knowledge of the various sales mechanisms available to Italian Government to take an opportunity to market (ITT, Competitive Dialogue Negotiated Procedure etc).
- Excellent knowledge of how to use company governance processes to translate potential sales opportunities into successfully run and profitable operations
- Deep knowledge of military matters and stakes in Italy and Europe
- Excellent understanding of service business; Deep experience in business development and sales
- Experience in Military/Defence (minimum 5 years)
- Knowledge of the Space/Defence context
- Flexibility to travel
- Ability to work in flexible mode
- Good communicator and team worker
- Ability to develop positive relationships with other regions to call on Serco’s global expertise
