Serco Defence: Enhancing Military Training in Belgium
As part of Serco Group PLC, we bring global expertise and innovation to Defence services and we are dedicated to ensuring Belgium’s military training remains cutting-edge and efficient..
Subject to contract award, Serco Defence is expanding operations, with future opportunities emerging to manage and maintain key military training facilities throughout Belgium.
We are currently researching solutions that are designed to improve operational readiness by delivering high-quality services across advanced training installations, focused on the following areas;
- Management & Operations: Overseeing execution, compliance, and service quality.
- Technical & Engineering: Maintaining and optimizing training equipment.
- Simulation & Training: Supporting personnel in using advanced technologies.
- IT & Logistics: Managing infrastructure, cybersecurity, planning, and support.

Main Responsibilities
- Managing and operating the Direct Fire simulator and creating scenarios.
- Managing spare parts for the Direct Fire simulator.
- Planning simulator usage.
- Operationalizing scenarios in Steel Beasts Pro.
- Adjusting and managing ongoing scenarios according to client requirements.
- Supporting clients in using the Observer and After Action Review modules.
- Providing support in Direct Fire training.
- Organizing the Steel Beasts Pro course.
- Participating in demonstrations and Public Relations events.
Leopoldsburg:
- Integration of new models and rollout to Marche-En-Famenne.
- Cumulative workload due to Combat Simulation planning is unsustainable.
Successful Candidate
Required:
- Experience in Combat unit (Infantry / Mechanised or Motorised, but NOT ParaCommando, Cavalry / Tank) - CS Recce is also possible if the person concerned is from the time when they also trained for mounted combat (with CVRT or Pandur, but NOT just Battlefield Surveillance or any other pure observation mission)
- Cadet Officer (OFF) or NCO (NCO)
- Knowledge and experience of formation driving, reaction on contact and fire control with vehicles is essential.
- Must be able to handle computers and software, but need not be an IT specialist at all.
Preffered:
- If this knowledge/experience is with PIRANHA, then that is ideal. With DINGO is also a bonus.
- Experience as an understudy Direct Fire is ideal, but any understudy experience is a bonus.
- Experience with former simulators the SIMPEL (Simulator Platoon for Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle) or the LFS (Leopard Firing Simulator for Tank) is a bonus.
- Experience as a gamer with military tank simulators (SBPro PE, M1 Tank Platoon, Combat Mission, ..., but NOT World of Tanks, due to unrealistic) is a bonus.
- World of Tanks can be a positive indication of interest in the subject, but the person concerned must then indicate that he realises that it does not give a realistic picture of armoured warfare
- SBPro PE is extra bonus, as this is the civilian version of SB Pro (Steel Beasts)
